The Calming Reset
🎤 Behind the Roar | September 6, 2025
This week has been… a lot. Work has been heavy with change, uncertainty, and transition. A new leadership team. A shifting organizational structure. Questions from my team, my peers, and the kind of low-level anxiety that seems to hum in the background of every meeting. The stress hasn’t just been in the work itself—it’s been in the not knowing, in the unpredictability.
And here’s the truth: I am not immune to it. I write about empowerment and calm, but that doesn’t mean I always live in that space. Some days, I catch myself sitting at my desk, jaw tight, shoulders heavy, wondering if I’ll ever feel caught up again. Some weeks, it feels like my entire glass is empty and there’s nothing left to pour into friendships or joy.
So I’ve had to lean into micro-actions. Tiny resets that take five minutes or less. At work, that looks like slipping on headphones, queuing up a calming instrumental track, stepping outside for a quick walk, and letting the fresh air reset my nervous system. It’s amazing how a short break away from the screen can quiet the buzzing thoughts in my head, even if just for a moment.
And maybe that’s why you find me here, at 10:30 on a Saturday morning, polishing the final touches on this blog post. The stress and anxiety of the week completely flooded me, and I didn’t have the margin to write earlier. But here I am, showing up in the way I can, and finding calm in the act of putting words on a page. Writing is one more way I refill what stress tries to drain away.
I don’t have all the answers. But I do know this: calm isn’t something we stumble upon by accident. It’s something we practice choosing, over and over again, even in chaos. For me, that looks like music and a quick walk. For you, it may be something entirely different.
Here are a few simple ways you might experiment with finding your calm this week:
- Take a five-minute walk without your phone.
- Listen to one calming song with your eyes closed.
- Do three rounds of slow, intentional breathing.
- Write down the three thoughts looping in your mind, and set them aside.
- Sip a glass of water slowly and mindfully.
✨ Your turn: What’s one micro-action you’ll choose this week to reclaim calm in your day? Hit reply or drop a comment and let me know—I’d love to hear what helps you refill your glass.
