Trusting the Shift

This month’s Lead with Vision theme has invited us to look at our lives through a wider, more intentional lens—moving from Deliberate (acting with purpose), to Compelling (shaping energy and influence), and now into Visionary (seeing beyond the moment you’re in). Visionary leadership isn’t about predicting the future. It’s about sensing what’s possible long before the path becomes clear.

And sometimes, life gives you a moment when the present gets uprooted—when a season ends, a door closes, or a chapter (like a long-standing career) gently places itself in your rearview mirror. Yesterday was my last day at Purina, and while the feelings were mixed, the message was unmistakable: sometimes the universe rearranges things before we’re brave enough to do it ourselves.

When the road ahead looks foggy, that’s when your inner knowing becomes your greatest compass. Visionary thinking comes alive not when everything is certain, but when everything is shifting. What is the universe clearing space for? What dream have you tucked away because life was too loud, too busy, or too comfortable to fight for it?

If the present moment has already become the past, don’t ignore the shift. Don’t cling to the familiar out of habit. Growth rarely lives on the well-lit road with fresh pavement and clear signs. Visionaries choose the fork in the road that’s rugged, quiet, and not yet shaped by anyone else’s footsteps. They take the step of faith before the staircase is built.

This season of uncertainty?
This unexpected opening?
This new chapter you didn’t quite ask for—but maybe deeply needed?

It’s an invitation.

Trust your resilience. Trust your grit. Trust the strength you’ve earned.
And more than anything—trust that when life shifts beneath your feet, it’s guiding you toward the place your spirit has been whispering about all along.
