🖋️ The Lioness Journals | December 1, 2025
Today marks the first day of a new month — December — and the holiday season is upon us. As the year winds down, it’s the perfect moment to pause, reflect and acknowledge what we’ve accomplished, what we’re proud of, and what we hope to cultivate in the coming year.
This month, I want to take us on a journey into Awaken Curiosity. Over the next four weeks, we’ll explore how being deliberately Inquisitive lays the foundation for sparking Curiosity, which opens the door to Insight, ultimately leading to Inspirational actions — the kind that helps us know ourselves more fully and step into our potential with purpose.
And here’s what I know: When we awaken curiosity within ourselves — when we boldly examine our beliefs, passions, and the things that bring us joy — we uncover parts of ourselves we’ve long accepted as “just the way I am”. But much of who we believe ourselves to be was shaped by experiences, expectations, and assumptions that deserve a second, deeper look.
This week’s theme is Awaken Curiosity: Being Inquisitive About Self. And being inquisitive isn’t simply about learning more — it’s being brave enough to ask why. It’s questioning where a belief came from, why it stayed, and whether it still deserves to hold space in your life. It’s the quiet courage of challenging old narratives and allowing wonder to replace autopilot.
I love to read fiction — it is one luxury I refuse to live without. I’m deep into a fantasy trilogy right now (any Nora Roberts fans?) where a young woman grows up believing she is completely average, because her mother has told her so her entire life. What she doesn’t know is that her mother is hiding the truth — the daughter actually has magical powers.
In classic storytelling fashion, the daughter eventually stumbles upon the truth and realizes she’s extraordinary — that she always has been. But she didn’t discover her potential until she began questioning the assumptions she had accepted as fact from her mother.
And honestly… aren’t we sometimes the same? We move through life carrying beliefs we never chose, never tested, and never even realized were shaping us.
When we awaken curiosity within ourselves — through inquisitive exploration — we uncover who we truly are and who we’ve always been capable of becoming. It’s only when we challenge our beliefs — especially the limiting ones — and explore our abilities without judgment that our direction becomes more focused, we gain more clarity, and we discover ways to keep growing even when others around us may have stopped looking.
So, this week, I encourage you to Awaken Curiosity and unleash the inquisitive nature we’re all born with.
Start simple.
Take a walk outside, or if it’s too cold, sit in a cozy coffee shop or café. Look around. Observe without judgment. Challenge the assumptions you walked in with. Let yourself be surprised. Open your mind and your heart to the possibilities of more.
And then, when you’re ready, turn that same sense of wonder inward.
Pick one belief you hold about yourself and examine it with honest curiosity.
For example:
If you’ve always identified as an introvert because someone told you so — explore it. Does the definition truly fit your lived experience? Are there exceptions? Are there other beliefs about who you are that you’ve never questioned, simply because they’ve always been there?
Be bold enough to ask yourself questions you’ve never had the courage to ask.
You might be surprised by what you uncover — and surprised by who you’ve been all along.
— With Gratitude,
Ronda 💛
