When I think of the word brave, my mind immediately thinks of superheroes and their superpowers—people that only exist in movies and comic books. However, that type of thinking is a disservice to all of us who strive every day to navigate the normalcy of chaos without being discarded along the way.
Bravery isn’t the absence of fear—it’s moving forward in spite of that fear. When is the last time you looked at yourself in the mirror and reflected upon how brave you truly are? I bet it’s been awhile, if ever.
That is my challenge for you this week. Every time you see your reflection in the mirror, let that be the reminder—the gentle nudge—that you are brave and doing extraordinary things through ordinary methods.
Bravery isn’t always announced with loud, glittery fanfare. Sometimes, it’s the quiet acknowledgement of a new responsibility. Or the shaking voice when you finally stand up to a coworker who continues to take credit for your hard work. It’s the time you make a conscious decision to do the right thing even when the consequences will be difficult to accept and manage.
When we exhibit The Everyday Acts of Bravery, we are showing the world our true authentic selves, and we are standing taller with integrity, grace, and courage. That is what it means to be extraordinary in an ordinary world.
So, this week is your time to acknowledge The Everyday Acts of Bravery. At the end of each day, before you go to sleep, look at yourself in the mirror and repeat this line: “I am proud of The Everyday Acts of Bravery you exhibited today. You showed up, you stood up, and you showed the world what you are really made of. Good job!”
🌸 When we acknowledge the acts of bravery we do everyday, we start to release ourselves from the limiting truths that would otherwise hold us back.
Keep being brave, and keep roaring! I’m cheering you on every step of the way.
