This month, we’ve been exploring several empowering words as we look within ourselves to Awaken Curiosity. We began the month by examining how being deliberately Inquisitive lays the foundation for sparking Curiosity, which opens the door to becoming Insightful—and ultimately leads to Inspirational action. These are the kinds of actions that help us know ourselves more fully and step into our potential with purpose.
And the word insightful is rooted in emotional depth and self-trust—lending itself to internal reflection and external influence. If you’ve read the Insightful chapter in Roar Like A Woman, you may recall that I confessed to having a really difficult time accepting that some of my most revealing and life-changing insights have been a direct result of painful, messy, vulnerable therapy sessions.
Why was that so hard for me to accept?
Because I am a strong, independent woman who believed she should have all her you-know-what together—someone who can analyze and fix anything in her life.
Well… I am still strong and independent.
But I’ve realized this: acknowledging that someone else sometimes needs to hold up a mirror so I can see my true behaviors and character traits—that’s not weakness.
It’s empowerment.
Insight isn’t always a loud clap of thunder. It’s not always obvious. It’s rarely dramatic. In my case, the relationship patterns that shaped so much of my adult life didn’t become clear until my therapist held up a mirror and gently guided me to really look. And it was only in that moment—when I finally stopped resisting what was reflecting back— that I could see the truth I had been missing.
Here's the point:
Insight isn’t always an internal whisper or a sudden intuitive knowing. Sometimes it requires the courage to look into the mirror someone else is holding, to accept the reflection, and then to do the internal listening that leads to growth.
It takes courage.
It takes desire to improve and grow.
It takes accepting that something needs to change.
And it takes believing in yourself enough to listen.
I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I do have a life full of experiences worth sharing. And I hope that the self-discoveries that have shaped me into the bold, brave, tenacious woman I am today help you uncover the patterns in your life that are ready to be seen.
If you’re ready to dig deeper, here are a few questions to begin with:
- Who are the mirrors in my life—and what might they be showing me.
- Where in my life am I repeating a pattern I haven't fully explored?
- What is my intuition trying to tell me right now?
"Nothing in life is more exciting and rewarding than the sudden flash of insight that leaves you a changed person."
—Arthur Gordon Webster
May you find the insight in your life that helps you become the amazing, unique person you are meant to be.
— With Gratitude,
Ronda 💛
