The Road to Self-Discovery Isn’t Always Paved
🔥 Roarffirmations | July 15, 2025
Self-discovery.
It’s a phrase we hear often, but what does it really mean?
According to Merriam-Webster, it’s “the act or process of achieving self-knowledge”. In laywoman’s terms, it’s the process of getting to know yourself on a deeper level, so you can live a better, more intentional life. It’s about exploring who you are as a person.
And let’s be honest:
That work is hard—and scary.
It takes vulnerability. It means being willing to admit when something isn’t working, when a habit or behavior no longer serves your best self. It requires you to examine your values, your needs, your desires—and acknowledge the areas where growth is still needed.
That kind of truth-telling isn’t easy.
Sometimes life throws us into unexpected detours that demand self-discovery. I’m at one of those crossroads now—faced with life-changing decisions that are risky and terrifying. And quite honestly, some of these changes are out of my control—which triggers my instinct to cling tight, to fix, to do, and yes… to try to take control again. But that often just leads to spinning—and unraveling.
And then the self-doubt creeps in.
My Self-Confidence Devil.
(Yes, I’ve named her. If you’ve read the Confident chapter in Roar Like A Woman, you know exactly who I mean.)
Even the most self-aware among us are not immune to that voice. She starts out small… but when you give her airtime, she gets loud. Disruptive. Sabotaging.
If I’m being honest—and I want to be—my Self-Confidence Devil has been overpowering my self-awareness lately. The circumstances beyond my control have started to shake the foundation I’ve worked so hard to build. I’m shaken. I’m exhausted. And while I sit here trying to find the right words that uplift you, the truth is—I’m struggling to uplift myself.
So this Roarffirmation today?
It’s for you—but it’s also for me.
It’s a reminder to both of us that we are enough—and that the path forward starts with showing up fully, again and again.
✨ Roarffirmation:
You are no less capable than anyone else.
You are not behind.
You are not “too emotional.”
You are powerful.
You are wise.
You are more than enough.
If you’re questioning your worth or wondering where you belong, I want you to know:
I see you. And I believe in you.
And when you are tired of showing up,
When the weight of pushing against expectations feels unbearable—
Know that you are not alone.
You have two choices:
Give up and give in
Or keep going.
I am choosing to keep going.
And I’m telling my Self-Confidence Devil:
You are no longer welcome. Pack your bags and get out.
And you can do that too.
You’ve got this!
Let’s keep walking forward—together.
