The ROAR Hour | August 20, 2026
Date: August 20, 2026
Time: 8:00pm ET
How often have you worried that being too direct, setting a boundary, or making a difficult decision would make people like you less?
Many women in construction have been taught, either directly or indirectly, that being a good leader means being approachable, agreeable, and accommodating. We want to build strong relationships, support our teams, and create positive working environments.
But somewhere along the way, many of us begin to equate being liked with being effective.
The reality is that respect and likability are not the same thing. While being liked may feel rewarding in the moment, respect is built through consistency, sound judgment, clear communication, and the willingness to make difficult decisions when they're needed.
During this session of The ROAR Hour™, we'll explore the difference between respect and likability, why so many women feel pressure to seek approval, and how that pressure can influence the way we communicate, set boundaries, and lead.
Together, we'll discuss what earns lasting respect, why disagreement doesn't necessarily mean disapproval, and how leading with confidence allows you to build stronger professional relationships without compromising your values or your leadership.
Whether you're early in your career or have decades of experience, this session is designed to create space for meaningful conversation, shared experiences, encouragement, and connection with women who understand the unique challenges of working in construction.
Attendees will receive an optional ROAR Reflection Worksheet a few days before the session with guided questions to encourage reflection and spark conversation during our discussion.
Session Flow
The first 45 minutes will include a facilitated discussion around the featured topic, followed by optional open conversation and networking for attendees who would like to continue connecting and sharing experiences.
The ROAR Hour™is a facilitated virtual meetup for women in construction designed to create space for honest conversation, meaningful connection, career growth, and community among women navigating the realities of the industry together.
Each session includes guided discussion around a featured topic, followed by optional open conversation and networking time in a supportive, low-pressure virtual environment.
This is a facilitated discussion-based virtual meetup, not a formal webinar or training session. Sessions will be hosted via Zoom, and registrants will receive the meeting link through a formal invitation once registration is complete.
Participants are welcome (but never pressured) to engage in conversation, share experiences, ask questions, or simply listen and connect with others in a supportive virtual environment.
