For many women in construction, being a team player means stepping in wherever we're needed. We solve problems, answer questions, help teammates, and take on work that keeps projects moving forward.
But over time, those extra "yeses" can quietly add up. Before we realize it, we're spending more time supporting everyone else's success than focusing on the work we're ultimately accountable for.
The challenge isn't that we're helping others. It's that the extra work we take on often competes with the work we're actually responsible for delivering, and ultimately evaluated on.
During this session of The ROAR Hour™, we'll explore why so many women struggle to say "no," how these extra responsibilities quietly accumulate, and how to recognize when being helpful is beginning to come at the expense of your own priorities, performance, and career growth.
Together, we'll discuss common examples of invisible work, why it happens, and practical ways to make intentional decisions about where you invest your time while continuing to be a collaborative and respected member of your team.
Whether you're early in your career or have decades of experience, this session is designed to create space for meaningful conversation, shared experiences, encouragement, and connection with women who understand the unique challenges of working in construction.
Attendees will receive an optional ROAR Reflection Worksheet a few days before the session with guided questions to encourage reflection and spark conversation during our discussion.
Session Flow
The first 45 minutes will include a facilitated discussion around the featured topic, followed by optional open conversation and networking for attendees who would like to continue connecting and sharing experiences.
The ROAR Hour™is a facilitated virtual meetup for women in construction designed to create space for honest conversation, meaningful connection, career growth, and community among women navigating the realities of the industry together.
Each session includes guided discussion around a featured topic, followed by optional open conversation and networking time in a supportive, low-pressure virtual environment.
This is a facilitated discussion-based virtual meetup, not a formal webinar or training session. Sessions will be hosted via Zoom, and registrants will receive the meeting link through a formal invitation once registration is complete.
Participants are welcome (but never pressured) to engage in conversation, share experiences, ask questions, or simply listen and connect with others in a supportive virtual environment.
