The Genius of Bold Beginnings

Every dream starts as a wild idea—a “bold guess” that dares to challenge what’s known. And yet, for many of us, that moment before we begin can feel paralyzing. What if it doesn’t work? What if I’m not ready? What if I fail?

Those questions echo in every creative heart, every new leader, every woman standing at the edge of something uncertain. We crave clarity before we move. But life doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes we have to step first—trusting that clarity will meet us along the way.

Boldness isn’t about knowing the outcome. It’s about beginning anyway.

I’ve learned that the most extraordinary shifts in my life—the ones that opened doors I didn’t even know existed—began with a single, uncertain “yes.” The yes that said, I don’t have it all figured out, but I’ll try. That yes carried more power than any perfect plan ever could.

My most recent, somewhat uncertain “yes”, is now growing into a brand and movement that has re-ignited a creative energy in my life that I have been missing for decades—you read that right: decades.

I finally said “yes” to writing a book I have always wanted to write—a book to help other women recognize how to step fully into and embrace their worth and confidence. And Roar Like A Woman: 35 Empowering Words to Unleash Your Inner Lioness is just the beginning. I have so many ideas and projects that I am already working on!

When we talk about taking bold steps, I am reminded of a quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:

“Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.”

There’s something almost sacred about that first step. Genius—the spark of creativity that awakens when we start. Power—the inner strength that grows through momentum. Magic—the synchronicities that appear when courage aligns with purpose.

When we finally begin, we invite possibility to join us, the universe can’t collaborate with what we only think about—it responds to what we do.

So whatever dream is tugging at your sleeve right now—start it. Not someday, not “when it’s perfect.” Begin it.

The first brushstroke, the first email, the first page, the first yes—that’s where your next chapter begins.
